5 Home Decor Ideas To Make Your Home Look Great

There are some basic rules one must follow to create the right impact with home decor. To be truthful there is no written rule guide which has to be followed step by step to create great interiors, designers do it with years of experience, understanding human behavior and with their own perception of what will look good and what will not work.

As far as what will work and what will not is concerned, nobody knows you and your home better than yourself. If you have time and patience you can achieve results as good as any interior decorator can. There are still some basic tips or design ideas you can keep in mind while working on your home interiors.

1.      Create space around your furniture. You must resist from overstuffing your room with all that you can lay your hands on. Give your furniture some breathing space, this not only creates space for movement but at the same time highlights the pieces that are placed. For Ex.: It is not necessary to create maximum seating space in a leaving room, get an estimate of an average gathering you have and plan accordingly.

The furniture in the picture is looking great because it is not competing for attention.

2.      Pick the color of the walls in the end. Well this is exactly opposite of what most of us do.  We normally decide and finish painting our walls even before we have bought a single piece of furniture. Have you gone through the paint shade card, which offers you an endless choice in the color you can have for your walls. Why didn’t it cross your mind that you could have bought furniture and artefacts you desired and the color of wall could have been easily matched.
3.      Know the trick to place your furniture on a rug. There are three ways you can place furniture and the rug. It depends on the size of your room, size of the rug and the volume of furniture.
It can be place with all legs on the rug.
Legs just touching the rug or
The front legs only on the rug.
Try all of this yourself and see how it changes the look of the room.

4.      Display artworks as they do in art galleries. Art galleries and museums hang artwork so that  the center is exactly at the level of the human eye, i.e.  57 inches to 60 inches from the floor level. This creates the right kind of impact with the artwork. This rule can vary with the ceiling height, but remember that the decor has to be admired by humans and the display should be human centric and not structure centric.
5.      Create a highlight area in the room. A strong focal point is very essential in a room decor.  The focal point can be a fine art painting in the living room, an art piece on the dining table or the table itself.
Don’t try to create multiple focal points. This will create more chaos and clutter. The easiest and most cost effective way to create focal point in a room is to use Custom Wallpaper and Custom Wall Murals. A custom Floral Wallpaper or a 3D Wallpaper For Walls can create truly stunning effects. These are easy to install, diy products.
